More Super Downtempo

Hey, y'all!

I've been into super downtempo music for some reason, and I happened upon this song whilst stalking Lorde's youtube page (she talked about liking the artist in an interview). But my Lorde fangirling is a topic for another time!

The artist is SOHN, and he's got a really cool, ambient, pulsing electronic feel to his songs. They've also got some cool vocal effects that remind me a bit of Adventure Club and The Kite String Tangle. The song I picked is Lessons, which I think has the best and most beautifully lowered vocals I've heard (better than the BBC remix of Little Talks and the Cyril Hahn remix of Say My Name). Anyway, here it is!

Super Downtempo

Hey, hope y'all had a great weekend! I mostly just sat around in sweatpants, watching movies and eating chocolate cappuccino cheesecake... #bejealous.

Anyway, today's song is a super downtempo one, which I find good since Mondays aren't usually hyperactive for me. This song is a cover of Drake's song Hold On, We're Coming Home done by ASTR (most known for their track Operate). It's really nice and relaxing and smooth, and a great way to unwind after getting coffee spilt all over yourself and your backpack... #dontbejealous.

Also, this is a free download! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy free.

Indie Electro House

Oh hello!

Today's song is a good example of a crossover trend that Avicii kind of kick-started with his UMF 2013 set, which basically entails a mixture of indie/folk/country tracks being hybridized with electronic and progressive house songs. Maybe I'll post one of Avicii's tracks another day, but today's track is All These Roads by Sultan & Ned Shepard (vocals by Zella Day and Sam Martin). It's got a super catchy beat and some good ol' electronic horns, along with that ever-so-indie male-female harmony. Hope you like it!

1+1=2

Hello there!

Today's song is by one artist I love featuring another artist I love, so that's neat. The song is Wonder by Adventure Club featuring The Kite String Tangle on vocals, and it's a pretty calming electronic house song. Smooth synths and a cool base line with Adventure Club's signature flowy vocal slices make for a pretty solid tune! Hope you enjoy it!

Music Ketchup 10: Waiting For You

We're at music ketchup number ten now! I think this will be it, and I'll just keep posting songs daily for a while since I have a few more stored up. Anyway, here's another Oliver remix, only this time it's of a Kris Menace song (which is cool since one member of Oliver did a remix of a Kris Menace song years ago back when he was U-Tern). The song is called Waiting For You (feat. Black Hills), and here it is!

Music Ketchup 9: Heart of Glass

On the ninth post of music ketchup, Jacob gave to youuuuuu... a

Flashback Alert!

This here's a remix by Oliver and Thee Mike B of a classic song by Blondie, Heart of Glass. It's very disco, and I love it. Oh, and it's free!

Music Ketchup 8: Shot At Night

Ketchup song number eight is a remix of a Killer's song called Shot at the Night. Cazzette did the remix as a more sped up version of the original, and I really like it. The original felt too slow, in my opinion.

Music Ketchup 7: Bravado

I don't know if I've ever posted Lorde on here, but I absolutely love her. This is one of my favorite songs by her. I don't really love her new album, but her initial EP was fantastic (especially this song, The Love Club and Royals). Anyway, this song is called Bravado, and it has some great vocal layering and a really neat, simplistic synth and drums backtrack. I know that Lorde's pretty well-known now, but this song is still worth posting, in my opinion.

Music Ketchup 6: Given The Chance

Ketchup song number six is a really eclectic indie electronic song that's surprisingly heartfelt. I love the crinkly distortion on the synths, and the random pitch-changed vocal slices. Overall, it's a beautifully written and arranged song. It's busy, but it's good busy... like party hopping.

Music Ketchup 5: Little Talks

I don't even know, guys. This remix is really really strange, but I kind of like it. I guess it's what happens when an indie rock band remixes an indie folk song. It's got some weird, lowered female vocals (probably not as successful as that of Cyril Hahn's Destiny's Child remix, but still good) and some great brass and drums. I enjoy it, but I don't know if I should feel bad about enjoying it.

Music Ketchup 4: Changing of the Seasons

Okay so I almost always like Two Door Cinema Club, and they sometimes get actually good remixes, which is strange to me since I don't usually like remixes of indie rock songs. But either way, this is a super cool remix of their single Changing of the Seasons by Belarbi. It's got a cool ambient piano/melodic bass combo thing going on, and it's very dance-able (if only I could dance).

Music Ketchup 3: Another Story

You guys, The Head and The Heart came out with a new album mid-October! Pretty exciting! Here's their second single from the album, titled Another Story, as ketchup song number 3.

Music Ketchup 2: Alive

Another ketchup song!

This one's a catchy indie dance track by Black Van featuring Deidre Muro called Alive. It has a smooth, calming yet uplifting feel to it, and I'm a sucker for vocal slices.

Music Ketchup 1: Indian Summer

Ahh, I haven't posted in forever! I didn't post any songs in October, nor did I ever finish September... so I'm going to catch up now with a series of posts, and make September-November into one single playlist!

First ketchup song is a happy indie electro song made for summer, but I think it's always applicable! Makes me happy :) Here's Lenno's remix of Indian Summer by Rasmus Faber (featuring vocals from Frida Sundemo).

More songs to come!

Stale(room)mate

Hello! It is I, the male counterpart of this blog, making a dramatic re-entrance after not posting forever! I know you can't physically see the re-entrance and its epicness, but if you could, it'd be like this:

But yeah, I feel like I should post to the main wall of this blog since if I just post music thingies in the background nobody would even notice. So here comes a story, kids!

For those of you who don't know, I have a roommate. People call him Twitchy. I call him Tater Tot, because he's okay with people calling him Twitchy and not okay with people calling him Tater Tot.

But yes, herein lies the problem. We're weirdly compatible as friends, and it's kind of a bad thing for me.

Here's a little bit of insight into how I interact with friends: I push boundaries. Once I've been friends with you for long enough, I get a good feeling for how much you can tolerate in terms of teasing and such. Then I proceed to dance on that line for the rest of said friendship as such:

So yeah, I can be pretty out there in social situations. Tater Tot, however, is passive in most that he does. I've been friends with him for a while and have yet to find a line on which to dance. This creates some awkward moments when I try to make him uncomfortable and it just... doesn't work.

An example of this was when I was (badly) playing the piano once, and he came over and asked to play something. I felt like being annoying, and only gave him half the chair on which to sit. While he played a tune with his right hand, I proceeded to pull his left hand around my neck and hold it with both hands against my solar plexus, thinking that he'd tolerate it for about twenty seconds, then get up and give me the chair back. But alas, I was mistaken. We probably sat there for over five minutes, stuck in a stalemate of awkward proportions, each of us testing how long the other would last. You could cut the tension with a knife.

I forget who gave in, but it resulted in a picture on a cellphone that I hope never gets posted to Facebook. Maybe I will eventually find my roommate's tolerance line... that is my dream...

Sweater Trauma

It's me, Jacob! Remember me? I used to post things sometimes. Well, Christine's been on me about my lack of contribution to the blog (I was avoiding going to it to even read Christine's posts because I knew I'd feel guilty about not posting... maybe I'll talk about this negative personality trait in another self-deprecating blog post later!), and now is when I'm finally getting around to posting again!

So blogs are supposed to be about our lives, right? And if something traumatic happened to me, I should write about it... right?

Okay. Here it goes.

First of all, some background: I am an avid knitter. Even more so than that, I am addicted to yarn, but that is also another story for another blog post. Anyway, I often go to thrift shops and rummage through the sweaters (yes, both men's and women's) to find a sweater to rip apart for yarn since it's often cheaper to get good fibers that way.

So this morning, my domestic partner (jk he's just my roommate) Twitchy and I went to a couple thrift stores, me to fuel my yarn addiction and him to fuel his flannel button-up addiction. At the second and final thrift shop, after me finding no good sweaters to rip apart (and Twitchy finding six flannel button-ups) I happened upon three things: First, I found a nice bear-shaped glass jar, which I bought because it was dirt cheap and I wanted to put honey in it. Second, I found an old interchangeable knitting needle set, which was neat and knitting-related, so I bought it. And finally, I found a wonderful 100% merino wool argyle sweater. It was beautiful. I was like...

The fibers used to make it weren't large enough to warrant ripping it apart for yarn, but it just happened to fit me perfectly, and I've been wanting some classy sweaters so I was like why not... after all, it was only $4.50.

So yes, I had just bought an awesome sweater that I was super pumped about. I was on cloud nine, high off merino fumes, and I was loving it.

But of course... all good things have to end eventually.

I went over to my parents' house that same afternoon, partially for free food, partially for family, partially to show off my snazzy new threads. After I flaunted my thrift shop find in front of my parents, they suggested I wash it (which hadn't really occurred to me, for some reason). I agreed that it would probably be a good idea.

So there's that fun little tag on the inside of sweaters an shirts that tells you what way to wash it... the one for this particular sweater said "hand wash in cold water only," but I always took those as suggestions and figured that as long as you machine wash on gentle in cold water and let it air dry, nothing too bad will happen. Well, I was wrong.

After a short but disastrous forty minutes, my new(ish) sweater had, like, five holes in it, and I was devastated. It was like there was a sweater-shaped hole in my chest. Something I never knew I needed happened upon me, and just as quickly slipped from my grasp.

I will never get that $4.50 back, and as a result, it may be a while until I learn how to trust again.

Haven't posted here in a while...

...so I am right now!

Buttttttttt I have nothing important to talk about. So! Here's a logo for a nonexistent (as far as I know) dragonfruit-themed media company I made as a joke. Enjoy!

I'll admit: this took longer than it should have.

Jacob

Music 'cause I haven't in a while and I should because I have things to post

So yes, sorry it's been a while, but I never said this was a daily sideblog! Ha, a valid excuse!

Anyway, here are some songs. The first one is a neat combination of electronic, pulsing synths, an emotional vocal, piano, and get this... chimes. Feed Me posted it on his Facebook page, and I love it, so here it is: Cry No More by Vaults.

The next one's a nice, light, girly synth pop track that's super super catchy. It's Embrace by Goldroom!

Here's a song from quite a while ago, but back in the day I was obsessed with this song -- Istill kind of am, but not to the same caliber. So yes, here's the RAC remix of Blue Jeans by Lana Del Ray. It's pretty light and indie dance-ish.

The next track is a pretty dang intense complextro tune by Basehead, called Burn It Down. Fun stuff!

Here's a  remix of the Bill Nye theme song by DJ Abunai. It's pretty good complextro, and I can't not post it... because Bill Nye.

Last track of the post goes to my current jam, Need Your Love by Lenno and Birdee. It's pretty minimal for an indie dance track, but I love it. It's wonderful and everything I need in my life right now :)

I am the dish fairy

(Koo koo ka choo!)

Yep, it's another self-deprecating rant by Jacob! That's what I post on here, right? Rants and music? If so, I'm glad to deliver!

But yeah, have you ever heard one of your parents/guardians say that the toilet paper doesn't replace itself; that there isn't some toilet paper fairy that poofs in a new roll when you exhaust the prior?

Well... guess what.

If you live with me (as I moved out a couple months ago into a house which will soon hold six college students including yours truly), there is in existence a dirty-dish equivalent of the aforementioned household sprite... and it's me.

This is the most relevant image I could find, and I don't feel like making OC today. Imagine that the bear is a fairy. Use your noodles.

I wouldn't call myself a clean freak; not in the slightest. And I definitely don't do it to be nice... I just hate it when dishes end up piled in the sink. Because I use that sink. For cleaning my dishes. And it's hard to clean dishes when you're unsure if the water has a usable path from the faucet to the drain. So I clean the dishes in the sink (which often requires emptying the dishwasher first).

Now some may say, "that's still nice of you to clean those dishes that aren't yours, Jacob!" Well, it gets less nice.

Now I wouldn't say I'm nonconfrontational (not in the slightest), but I do tend to be passive-aggressive every now and again. And if I clean dishes out of the sink, and you don't promptly notice and thank me, you may be getting the cold shoulder for the evening -- or if you're lucky, a nice sarcastic remark.

Actually, while I'm writing this, I'm starting to make a connection to my past... when I was a kid, one of the things my mother and I would get in fights about was the tendency of my bathroom to get a bit... out of hand. And sometimes, my mother wouldn't say anything to me at all about cleaning said bathroom, and would just clean it herself. Then she would get angry at me for not cleaning it myself (even though she didn't ask me to... that day, at least). And that was when the fight would begin.

So in conclusion, when we move out of our parents' houses, we get to see who we really are, since we are no longer under the watchful eye of our maternal and paternal authorities. I recently went through this process, and realized that I am my mother.

omg.

Jacob

Recovering ground.

And by that I mean re-covering. Like, covering again. Not as in hit-points. Anyway!

Here's another remix of Say Lou Lou's track, Julian. I feel bad for posting another one, but I think it's different enough. This is more of an indie progressive house track, and I love it, so... haters gonna hate. Also, free download!

Weirdly meaningful.

So deadmau5 posted this song/concept on Soundcloud, and I'm kind of obsessed with it. The beat itself is pretty good, but in the middle it goes into this really nice, low-key piano breakdown. The strange part, though (and arguably the best part), are the vocals. They are so weird. Seriously. But not in an actually weird way. More in an... unexpected way. The vocals are really just whispers, but somehow they seem more meaningful than most song lyrics that are meant to be meaningful. When I listen to a song, I think of something good being made out of a possibly bad situation... somebody being happy even though everything says they shouldn't be.

Sorry, this is unusually deep, especially for an EDM song called Errors In My Bread by deadmau5, but this is (half) my blog, so deal with it <3

Sunday, September 1, 2013

September is upon us.

Yes it is, you clever title, you!

So to start off September, I thought I'd post a slowly building prog house song, just for funsies. So here's Aphrodite by Kryder! Hope you like it, and welcome to Autumn!

August Wrap-up and Playlist!

I'm technically writing this a couple days late, but whatevs.... Anyway, we've made it through August, so here's your reward for putting up with my music selections for a whole month! Good on you!

Catsup

AHH IT'S THE LAST DAY OF THE JIP MONTH! For posting songs, at least.

I feel like I haven't done nearly as well this month as I have the previous months... so I'm going to bust out a long song post to even things out! :) Imma give 'em to ya rapid fire, now, so try to keep up!

Here's a fun disco house (which I guess is just more housey indie dance) tune! It's Lenno and The Ninth Floor's remix of Come Alive by HeavyWeight.

Next is a nice, upbeat indie track by The Royal Concept (which sound a lot like Phoenix, but in a good way). So here's On Our Way:

Here's another nu disco/disco house remix by Lenno, this time in conjunction with Jesse Oliver. They remixed Disco Ensemble's Second Soul, and the result is very uplifting and catchy. The style fits the vocals really really well. This one's a free download!

More indie! Here's Shake by The Head and The Heart (in my opinions one of the best indie folk bands out there), the first single off their album, to be released mid-October. I always love the prominence of the piano in their songs :)

Here's a great electro house track by Nicky Romero and Krewella, remixed by Vicetone (who I love), called Legacy.

Coming at yo face is another nice track by Koobra called Only You, which is even more disco than the first one.

I feel like I should post one more track, so here's one I've been listening to at work lately... off Zedd's album Clarity is the song Follow You Down featuring Bright Lights:

And that's all for this super long catch-up post! Stay tuned for the playlist tomorrow!

Monday, August 26, 2013

Smooth.

Hey so I'm relatively late on finding this track, so for that I apologize!

Here's a fun, calm electronic track with some great female vocals. I could totally see myself, like, vacuuming to this or something... it's just one of those tracks that when it comes on, you kind of have to smile :) Anyway, here's Koobra's Something Real featuring Joanna!

Saturday, August 24, 2013

Here's to more of the same.

Hey, so I'm going to be lazy today and post another song by an artist I talked about a couple weeks ago... because I can. Also, I love this song. It's super catchy, and has more electronic elements than the previous song I posted by them. So yes, here's another nice indie pop/rock song by Smallpools called Dreaming.

Hannahhhhhhhhh

I am OBSESSED with this song right now. I love everything about it.

This is partially because it's an amazing, wonderful, flawless song, but the rest of it is that forever ago (back in high school) in my digital imaging class my teacher showed us a cool animation one of his favorite students made. The animation was set to this song, and I remember liking it, but this was back before I listened to this kind of music, so I didn't think much of it. I then re-happened upon this song through Spotify radio the other day, and I had a freak out.

So yeah, tl;dr, but still.

The song is Hannah by the Freelance Whales. It's wonderful, and here it is.

Bucket Playlist

Howdy, y'all!

So I'm attempting to make a Bucket Playlist. What is this, you may ask? It's basically a bucket list, only each activity has a song that you have to listen to whilst doing said bucket list activity. Truthfully, this stems from my obsession of figuring out what activity goes best with my favorite songs, so the bucket list part comes from the soundtrack part... and I'm starting to doubt if this makes any sense. But I'm going to do this anyway, because I haven't made a real blog post in a while, and this is all the inspiration I have!

So! Here's my list, in no particular order. Oh, and by the way, these activities are just what fit best with the song, so not all of them are really likely to happen, but if they do, I'll be sure to have an iPod and some headphones handy!

Bucket Playlist

  1. Climb a mountain (preferably a snowy one) and listen to Bromance by Tim Berg as you summit:
  2. Hang glide and listen to Discover Life by Uppermost:
  3. Watch a meteor shower and listen to Suite 02 (or whatever song he makes out of the concept) by deadmau5:
  4. Drive through a tree tunnel in a convertible and listen to Urban Contact's Summer Soul Remix of Babys by Bon Iver:
  5. Fish at a secluded lake in a wooded area and (obviously) listen to Old Pine by Ben Howard:
  6. Float in the Dead Sea and listen to Koan Sound's remix of Green & Blue from Halo 4:
  7. Read a fantasy novel in a windowed nook during a storm and listen to You Know Where to Find Me by Imogen Heap:
  8. See the aurora borealis from a dog sled and (coincidentally) listen to Boreal by Hundred Waters:
  9. Lie down on my bed (on top of the covers) and stare at the ceiling after a traumatic event, and listen to Higher Love by Kris Menace and Julian Hamilton:
  10. Swing dance to Swing Republic's cover of Crazy in Love by Beyonce:
  11. Explore an ice cavern (or a crystal cavern, I'm not picky) and listen to Ash by Rezonate:
  12. Leave after saying goodbye to a friend for what will most likely be the last time, and listen to Feed Me's cover of This Is The Thing by Fink:
  13. Walk through a snowy park at night while listening to the deadmau5 remix of Ice Age by HTDA:
That's all I can think of right now, but I will post more when I come up with them! Also, I kind of screwed myself over with this list, because a lot of these things can't really be planned... I guess I'll just have to make a Bucket Playlist on my iPod, and have it with me at all times. No biggie.

Weird tribal

It's a song! Woohoo!

This week's song comes from Rameses B (a name which I have not even the slightest clue how to pronounce), and it's pretty great. Monstercat (the label) describes it as glitch hop. I feel like it's closer to melodic dubstep (maybe the tempo being slower makes it more akin to melodic glitch hop?), but either way it's a really neat, very well-produced song with some weird tribal vocals that fit extremely well with the song. Enjoy it.

Thursday, August 15, 2013

I like this song.

Yes, I am a fan of deadmau5. I think I've posted two songs by him before, but whatever. This song's called Infra Super Turbo Pig Cart Racer, which is a reference I don't understand to Minecraft, but the song's good! It reminds me of Kavinsky. The build is great. Hope you like it!

Dry spell continued

Yep, sorry. People tell me this happens to most guys!

Here's an old electro swing song that a friend of mine showed me today... I like it. I like Parov Stelar, but I really need to go through his music soon. Anybody with me on that? :)

Thursday, August 8, 2013

I don't care, I'm posting it

This song isn't the best, but I'm so happy to just have a good, recent song to post! Oliver just posted a remix of American Girl by Bonnie McKee, and it's pretty cheesy at times (it would be much better as an instrumental, imho), but it's still pretty great (as Oliver always is). So here it is! And it's free, btw.

Dry spell

Yes, I admit it, I'm at a music-finding dry spell right now... my Soundcloud feed has just not been living up to my expectations as of late.

So! I'm just going to post a couple songs from the past to make up for it! I haven't posted these songs before, but I'll hope you forgive me since they're not new-to-me and they're not flashbacks... they're just... older.

Here are a couple to make up for the last few days I've missed hoping for a good song on Soundcloud and scouring setlists for something good (which I coincidentally did not find):

This one's a hark back from my Skrillex-loving time (don't hate me!) and it's a really nice, melodic house track he did with Penny (known as PennyBirdRabbit on Soundcloud, I believe, but don't quote me on that because I don't feel like fact-checking right now), and it's probably super overplayed for EDM, but whatever. I've been liking it lately. So here's All I Ask Of You by Skrillex featuring Penny.

What, another track?! Yep! This one's an electronic remix of an indie track! My favorite! The original track is by Passion Pit and it's called Take A Walk. The remixer is The M Machine, and I think they did a great job at actually making the song more solemn (especially considering the song's lyrical content). It has a magical feel to it, and I love it.

Last song for today! Since I'm talking about songs I liked in high school, I might as well post Again and Again by Basto. It's a lovely track with a (probably too loud) three-word vocal sample, and some beautiful set of pingy pongy delays. It's catchy and happy and I love it. I first heard it on Overwerk's Into The AM mix he did, which you should check out, because it's amazing. It should be somewhere, just search it. Anyway, here's that song, and I hope you enjoy all these!

Edit: Overwerk got me thinking, and I'm going to add a mashup of his for good measure! It's super catchy and basically flawless, and I love it. You'll probs be like, I remember this song! I know I was :) Here's I Am London by Overwerk (et al).

Flashback: Happy!

Here's a fun song that's got some soul, so I'm going to call it a...

Flashback Alert!

Even though it's a current song, I think it's deserving of the title. But you decide for yourself! Here's Happy by C2C featuring Derek Martin.

Friday, August 2, 2013

Still late, but whatever...

This one isn't as late though... less than an hour, I promise!

Thought I'd post yet another great remix by my home skillet biscuit (not really, I've never had personal, nor internet contact with the man), TheFatRat! This is a great electro/melodic dubstep remix that feels like it took a quick dip in the 1980s. So yes, here's the TheFatRat remix of Picking Up All The Pieces by Strange Talk (who are also worth checking out... I really like Eskimo Boy).

Thursday, August 1, 2013

It's August!

...and I'm technically posting this on the third, but I'll change the posting date! Nobody will be the wiser! *maniacal laughter*

Anyway, today's song is one given to me by a friend, and I'm kind of addicted to it right now. It's a great summery indie tune, with a catchy synth line and quality vocals! So without further adoooooooo, here's Panama Wedding's All Of The People, the first song of the month! Also, it's free! If there's a better way to start August than with free music, I am unaware of it.

July 2013 Playlist

Yup, it's that time of the month! ;)

Here're all the songs I've posted this month of July 2013, in a handy Soundcloud set list (in with it's special "the other color from our site" button)! Hope you enjoy it!

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

Last (song) day of July

Yep :(

But let's keep it happy, even though I know you're all heartbroken. Here's a song by a random band I just found via a song a friend found from an artist I showed her... yep! Here's Over & Over by Smallpools! It's probably the happiest song I've heard in a while.

Physical (in)activity

So I just realized that I haven't done a vector graphics blog in a really long time!

Of course, that doesn't mean I'm going to today...

...or for writing a witty caption.

I will soon, I promise! But until then, I'm adopting Christine's more "hip" and "with it" method of inserting relevant/trendy gifs/memes to supplement the text. Yay for being lazy!

Christine: It's not actually "hip" or "with it"... I just don't know how to make pretty vector graphics. I suck at those, remember? *cries*

And that's actually exactly what today's topic is about!

So I've had many a confession about being lazy, but that's for a reason... it's a legitimate problem for me. Especially in the field of physical activity (a field in which I haven't been in a very, very long time). Thank the Lord for my speedy metabolism, because without it I would probably look like Jared pre-Subway rehab.

And I really have no excuse, either. A lot of people don't work out because they don't have a gym membership or any equipment, right? Well, I go to a large state school with a fully equipped gym and everything! Guess how much it would cost for a student (such as myself) to use? You guessed it, kids! Nothing! Well, ignoring tuition.

To add on even further, I even have a mindset that would (theoretically) encourage exercise: a somewhat negative self-image! Yeah, it sounds bad, but if you think about it, you'd think my not liking the way I look would encourage me to become fit. Yet somehow, I'm so incredibly lazy that my sloth properties trump all else. I think to myself, "I'm chubby. I should work out." But then I'm all like, "nah, I'll just watch Burn Notice and eat some Little Debbie's."

So yeah, that's my life.

Also, try to convince me that this is not the face of evil.

"Little" Debbie, my fat ass.

Jacob

More prog house!

Because shut up! I like progressive house!

Here's a remix by Special Features, a really cool (probably) bedroom producer known for his remix of Strobe by deadmau5, and I really like it. It came out today while I was at work (or at least, that's when I noticed it) and it really did make my day :)

So without further ado, here's the Special Features remix of Can't Stop Now by the talented electro (?) house duo, The Aston Shuffle.

Dislike + dislike = like?

First of all, sorry I didn't post the last couple days... I was camping, thus no internets :)

Anyway, today's song is from two artists I don't really like separately (Disclosure and Flume) but I really like this song. Is it because of the cool drums mixed with really ethereal synths in the drop? Probably.

So yes, here's the Flume remix of You & Me by Disclosure! Enjoy!

My type of music

Hey, cutting it close with this one, so I'll be brief: this band (Saint Motel) is awesome, and I love them. They just posted this song today, and it made me sososo happy. It's got some great instrumentation, it's funny, and beautiful. Hope you like it! Also, it's yet another great free download!

Repetitive vibes

Hey, sorry I missed the last couple days :(

Anyway! This track is super repetitive, but it's got a great vibe, and I think it's perfect for summer. Also, it's a Penguin Prison remix, so that kind of assures a certain level of awesomeness! With some high-soaring vocal cuts and some great disco elements, all on top of a ever-present four-on-the-floor beat, this song is pretty great. So here's Penguin Prison's remix of Love Somebody by Maroon 5. Also, it's a free download!

(Not) living life to the fullest

So I've basically reduced my blog posts to my sideblog and responding to Christine's blog posts, but whatever, it works.

So yes, I also had reading ambitions this summer. Though, they weren't as specific as Christine's... my goal was basically to read a book sometime during my school-less months. And sometimes at night I think, hey! I should read right now! But then my brain's all like,

But yeah, it's probably been a month since I started watching Supernatural and I'm almost through Season 7. Even in my twisted world view, I know that I have a problem. Do I plan to do anything about said problem? Ehh.

But on the bright side, I guess I'm learning a lot about folk lore from different cultures? I think (or would like to think) that a lot of the lore is accurate to various cultures. For example, in the series the only way to kill a vampire was to decapitate it, which is based upon German and western Slavic lore. Also, salt is seen as a purification substance in both Wiccan and Shinto (and slightly in Christian variations, like in holy water sometimes). So at least it's not all crap?

Old school funk

Hey so a friend of mine showed me this song and I had to post it. It's got a great old-school feel to it, and seems like it would be a great strutting-while-you're-doing-chores song. I'll have to add it to my dishes playlist ;) Here's All You're Waiting For by Classixx featuring Nancy Whang!

Rocking out

Hey, so here's a song from a band a coworker of mine told me about today... I really like them. So yeah, here's Atomic Man by Portugal. The Man.

Classic deadmau5

Didn't feel like trying today, so here's the really long edit of Strobe by deadmau5. I love this song sososo much; it's great for doing stuff, like internet surfing or photo editing or anything really. Anyway, here it is!

Shameless plug

...except I'm very ashamed. So yeah, I could not think of ANY songs to post today, and there was nothing good on my Soundcloud feed, so I thought I'd muster up all my courage and actually post something on my Soundcloud account. So yes, I'm featuring it today, since I'm that self-centered.

But no, I make mixtapes (like, the actually mixed together kind) every month or so to listen to, and I made this vocal edit for one of them. So yes, it's basically the vocals of Krewella's Alive (a really commonly sampled song... seriously, it was in the mashup I posted a couple days ago) with the EDX Redub of Elements by Dinka, which is a pretty chill prog house song. I also added some vocal slicing that turned out okay at points, but I couldn't take it out, since I love vocal slicing so very much. Anyway, I thought I may as well post it, since nobody actually reads this :) No harm, no foul!

Oh, and free download (the legality of which is dubious, since neither of the vocal edit's root songs are free, but let's just see if anybody notices...).

Feelin' electric

Hey guys! Sorry I didn't post yesterday... I was on a night hike until almost midnight, and it completely slipped my mind!

Today's post is confusing, because it's an edit of a remix. I like the original remix, but the drop was pretty overwhelming, so I was going to edit it out. But low and behold, somebody else beat me to the catch on Soundcloud! Goes to show that no idea is original ;)

Anyway, it's got a great dance beat and some Temper Trap-ish vocals, and it's a great tune, even if the drop is just resampled from other parts of the song. Oh, it's a free download as well!

Just a little deadmau5

Because who doesn't like a little deadmau5 here and there? Stupid people, that's who!

Here's a fun track he did a bit back called There might be coffee, which I love. It's pretty calming, while still upbeat. A great (home)work track, or just whenever you're doing something and need an unobtrusive song to listen to. Enjoy!

Nu disco instrumental

Hey guys!

This is a quick upload, I know, but I'm working on a mix cd for a beach trip tomorrow, and I wanted to squeeze this post in before midnight :) So here's a funky, cool instrumental with some awesome vocal slicing: the Oliver Nelson remix of Eddie by Everywhere! Also, it's free (after jumping through some hoops).

A Cool Thing

So a friend of mine posted this on Facebook and I thought I'd just make a post about it because it's really cool.

There's this composer named Eric Whitacre, and he does these videos called Eric Whitacre's Virtual Choir. It sounds cheesy, but the most current one he did was a collaboration between over five thousand singers from over one hundred countries. I think it's pretty impressive that the technology to which we have become so accustomed has made such things possible!

So yeah, the animation's really bad, but I don't care because it's really neat and you can see all the people who contributed!

Hakuna matata!

Really, the only reason I'm posting this song is that it reminds me so much of The Lion King. It's a really neat song, with some great male-female harmonies (which are refreshing, since I'm so used to the currently-popular indie male-female octave-apart style). Also, I just love RAC and (most) everything he does, so there's that! (Free download, btw.)

So yes, here's Under African Skies featuring SPEAK and Liz Anjos! And remember, it means no worries... for the rest of your days!

Tropical grit pop?

At least, that 's what they call it... more Ghost Beach! Yay! I really like the vocals, especially the harmonies (like around 1:06), and just the overall feeling to this song :) very happy! Even if it does remind me a lot of Galaxy by Owl City... whatever, good music is good music!

Oh, and happy hump day, y'all!

Back to da funk

Remember how I featured a remix of Charles Deluxe in my last Flashback Alert? Well, what are the chances?! He just (kind of) released his first song in six months! And I'm pretty excited about it.

This one's the Charles Deluxe remix of Closer by Tegan and Sara, and it is really really really really really good. I've been itching to share this one, and I can't wait until he provides some means of downloading it! Enjoy :)

RIP Ye Mengyuan and Wang Linjia

First of all, if you haven't read Christine's post about the plane crash, do that. It's a lot more important than this sideblog. Seriously.

Now that you've read that, you're probably not in the mood for the song I was going to post today, so I'll post a more somber song... just in case you feel like having a good cry. Here's We Don't Eat by James Vincent McMorrow, and here's to cherishing what we have, because the lives we live can be unpredictable and cruel.

So let's remember to be there for those experiencing loss, because the only thing harder than suffering is suffering alone.

Out of songs to post for now...

Okay, so I only have so many recent songs to post on here, and this week has been slow, so I'm going to have to reach pretty deep into the barrel for this one... but that doesn't make it any less good!

So I am an avid fan of Madeon (especially his earlier stuff), and today I will pay tribute to one of his older songs, called Shurieken! Here it is! Also, it's a free download!

Flashback: Barry Manilow

This is for all the fanilows out there (who also happen to like discoey house). Yep, it's time for yet another...

Flashback Alert!

This one is a remix of Barry Manilow's iconic Everything's Gonna Be All Right, done by Charles Deluxe, a funky house producer that I love, and can't wait for him to start releasing songs again. So yes, here's that!

Spanish is a language I do not know

...but I still like this song!

Here's a fun, indie song in Spanish by Trails and Ways! It's short and sweet, has a catchy melody, and some clapping -- because honestly, who doesn't like to clap? So without further adieu, here's Como Te Vas by Trails and Ways.

America rant

Hey, guys! Happy Fourth of July to those in America! To everybody else, hope you're having a great Thursday :)

So I've been kind of getting annoyed at the mindset of many Americans lately, and I feel like I might as well just post about it, so if you don't like opinions you can listen to some Macklemore below. But yeah, it seems like most of what I see on the internet of Americans are 1) people who constantly complain/poke holes in our country's infrastructure, or directly target other citizens with whom they don't agree, and 2) people who talk about liking our country, but only sarcastically. It kind of annoys me.

I mean, it isn't a crime to love (or even like or appreciate) your country, and it seems like lately we as a people are largely just overly avoiding stepping on other people's toes. Unless you're obnoxious about it, nobody will be offended if you mention liking your country without sarcastically tacking a 'murica at the end of your sentence. Seriously.

Don't get me wrong; I in no way think that the United States does everything perfectly... of course we have room for improvement, as every country does in some respect. But to a point (while still keeping in mind our country's errors and attempting to improve them) I feel like we should appreciate what we have. I, personally, am thankful that I could receive a pretty decent public education (even though I think there should be more of a focus on grammar), and that we have a pretty dang corruption-free police force, and we have nice roads and other shiny public services.

Many people just take things for granted, and are often so whiney and annoying. My least favorite kind of person in this respect is the kind of person that just talks about how they want to move to Canada or Germany or something just because they don't like certain aspects of America's government. Truthfully, if you're so willing to jump ship, I'd rather you just follow through and leave all the people who are actually willing to work for a better future here.

So yeah, that was pretty serious, so here's a list of things I like about America:
  • We cook some pretty dang good food
  • We're pretty diverse and deal with that diversity very well, all things considered
  • We're able to laugh at ourselves (even if we do it too much sometimes)
  • We can be quite festive at times, and we can come together as a people when disaster strikes
  • We have fireworks, which are pretty
Anyway, happy Fourth of July! And don't forget; it's okay to like your country :)

Pumping some blood!

Still late on these, wow...

Today's a chill song that actually has a pretty up-tempo electro drop, but it somehow works! I love FIXYN; they do great remixes.

So here's FIXYN's remix of Pumpin' Blood by Nonono. Cheers!

Supes chill

Ahh I missed my deadline again! But only by ten minutes or so, so it's not too bad....

I'll be brief: today's song is really chill, and it's probably best known from Drive (the movie), which had a surprisingly good soundtrack (it also featured a song by Kavinsky). Anyway, this is A Real Hero by College & Electric Youth, and it is a fun indie electronic song. Enjoy!

Oh, and this song is dedicated to my brother, who needs to chillax and learn to be a real human being :) love ya, bro!

Monday, July 1, 2013

It's July now!

The month of (United States) independence! How neat!

So I thought today Christine would be guest posting, but apparently not... but I'm not being passive aggressive at all! Or sarcastic! jk though :)

Well it's technically a day late, so I'll have to post two songs! Here's the first... it's a remix! I know, big surprise. Sorry, I just really like remixes. I also really love Oliver (which consists of U-Tern and Oligee), because they always have such a crisp, catchy, and retro sound! They're basically always perfect. I mean, if I don't like one of their songs, it's not because it's not a good song... it's just a matter of taste.

Anyway! Here's Oliver's remix of Mayer Hawthorne's Her Favorite Song, the first July song of Jacob's Infinite Playlist! Get excited!

Oh, and sorry about the weird one-song set format... Mayer Hawthorne is being a butt and not allowing embedding of his songs, which doesn't make a lick of sense since this is a free remix.

June wrap-up and playlist

Well, today's the last day of June! Kind of sad, but the summer's just getting started!

To finish it off, here's a playlist of all the songs I've posted for June in one convenient place for listening! Enjoy :)

P.S. It's theme is seafoam, because it's differentttttt

The Shins are my favorite

The Shins are probably my all-time favorite band, so I thought I would finish off the month of June with a remix of Sleeping Lessons done by RAC. Surprisingly, RAC actually stripped down the original a little and gave it a bit of an acoustic vibe (at least for the first minute and a half or so). He also added some great accompanying female vocals, which really rounded out the song (in my opinion).

So here's the last song of June, everybody! Get pumped for July :)

Camping indie

Hey, y'all!

This song reminds me immensely of camping, and for that I love it. Except it does talk about sand in sleeping bags as a good thing, which is extremely incorrect on the most fundamental of levels. Either way, here's Old Pine by Ben Howard.

P.S. This isn't the full song; the real song has a long, super calm intro, so if you're into that, look it up on YouTube or some shizz.

Urinal Theory

I haven't posted to the main wall of this blog in soo long, omg. I've been shirking my responsibilities as a fetch loyalist, and for that I sincerely apologize.

I also apologize for the fact that this is the second post in a row that's going to be about urinals. Yeah, so apparently they're what I think about in my spare time?

No, not really. Anyway, in chemistry class we had this super awesome TA... let's call him Joey (since that's his name). He was kind of the coolest TA ever, and one day he was trying to figure out a good way to explain crystal field theory (CFT). You know, standard gen chem.

Well, somebody in our class came up with an amazing analogy to explain CFT, later referred to as Urinal Theory. It's actually a great explanation, and it kind of covers orbital filling as well. Christine and I argued about who came up with it (I feel like I pitched the original idea, but Christine insists she had some part in its generation), but it doesn't really matter, since it's really a brain child of the entire class.

Also, it's pretty easy to understand (even for women... I'm sure you can figure it out, even though it doesn't directly apply to you).

Okay, so let's get into it!

Imagine, you are in a class at college and you have an overwhelming desire to urinate (stay with me, please). You bolt out of the lecture hall, and find the nearest bathroom, which has ten urinals. Look below for a really bad diagram. Oh, and if the images look low-res, that's because they're really high-res. Click on them to make them look prettier!

Beautiful, right? Now, the reason there are ten urinals is that each urinal represents a slot for an electron. In this analogy, you are the electron. Cool, right? And in this example, we're only talking about CFT in terms of d-orbitals (hence the ten urinals/electron slots). For more information, here's an image showing the s-, p-, and d-orbitals (in order from top to bottom).

So yes, here's an updated diagram with the energy axis as increasing to the right:

As you can see, all the urinals are roughly equal in effort from the electron, as they are at the same energy level. Oh, I forgot to add this: energy is distance in this analogy.

Now let's consider the possibility of another electron/person occupying one of the slots. According to the unspoken rules of urinal etiquette, you must leave one urinal in between you and the other person (let's assume for simplicity that the first five people to use urinals stay either on the even or odd urinals, so that the urinal gap between them is always an odd number). If this situation were to occur, these would be your possibilities:

So yes, as long as there is one urinal between the two people, each person is relatively happy. This is considered a stable state in terms of energy. Also, this would be considered high spin, since all the electrons are on either odd or even urinals (if I wanted to continue the analogy, I'd say that each even urinal has positive-spinning water when you flush or something like that, but that's stupid, so you're going to have to take my word for it). And when the alternating five urinals are filled, the sixth person has no choice other than to take one of the spots between two people (which sucks). So the order of filling would be 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, or something similar. The evens and odds can be switched around among themselves, but not with each other (segregation!).

Now, if for example there were six ligands coordinated to the atom represented by this situation, two along each axis (called octahedral coordination), some orbitals would be more affected by the repulsion of the ligands than the others. Specifically, the dx2-y2 and the dz2 orbitals are of a higher energy since they are the only ones whose lobes reside directly on the axes (on which the ligands are coordinated). So these orbitals are then at a higher energy than the other orbitals. One can think about this by splitting the bathroom into two smaller bathrooms, one farther away and one closer.

And that energy gap in between the bathrooms is determined by the amount of repulsion from the ligand. But it makes sense, right? When you walk into the bathroom and see other people occupying every other urinal already, you have to decide whether it's worth walking to the next bathroom down the hall, or if you'd rather just use one in the current bathroom.

Most likely, if the energy gap (ΔE) is larger, you'd decide that it's not worth going the extra distance to the second bathroom, unless you're like me and hate bathroom encounters with a hot and fiery (there's an STI joke there somewhere...) passion. This is similar to an electron's behavior when the energy gap is larger (often caused by more orbital overlap with the ligands): the new electron would rather share an orbital with another electron than expend the energy to get to the next empty orbital. This usually results in a low-spin situation, since each orbital holds two electrons of opposite spins (which cancel).

However, if the bathroom is just a couple feet away, you're more likely to just put in the extra energy to go to the wonderfully unoccupied bathroom down the hall! This ends in what is called a high-spin case in electron terms, because one atom could have five electrons with the same spin in five different d-orbitals, none of which cancel each other out. For more information on electron spin and spin states, go here.

Well, that concludes today's potty mouth description of chemical phenomena! I hope this made sense... it's hard since you can only take an analogy so far, and I always want my analogies to be perfect (but they never can be unless I just say, "an electron is like an electron").

So, until the next time I stop watching Supernatural and decide to make a post!

Music shame

Hey, sorry I didn't post yesterday... I was too busy BUYING A CAR.

Anyway, today's song is a really good example of something I call "music shame." For anybody who cannot figure out its meaning via context clues or common-knowledge definitions, music shame is the feeling you get when you like a song you know you probably shouldn't, be it because it's a remix of a song that is terrible, or because you see the artist as deplorable/a terrible person (yes, your browser wasn't glitching; both those links do go to the same link).

But yes, this song definitely falls into that category for me, and for obvious reasons. So here's Fred Falke's Remix of... The Other Side by Jason freaking Derulo. Yep.

Mashing up!

Today's a mashup day, for sure.

This one's from DJ Foxfire, and it's a mashup of a ton of great tracks, including ones from Avicii, Zedd, Madeon (omg), and Krewella. It's really well-done, and you can barely even notice song transitions and key changes. I loveee it. So yes, here is Time and Space by DJ Foxfire!

Flashback: Ella Fitzgerald

Yes boys and girls, that's right! It's time for yet another...

FLASHBACK ALERT!

This week's rehash comes from a song called Too Darn Hot, which was originally written by Cole Porter for his 1948 musical, Kiss Me, Kate. (Somewhat) more recently, the song was covered by Ella Fitzgerald (in 1956). So yeah, the song is old.

The original is great and jazzy, but to bring it into the 21st Century, RAC recently (as in, a couple days ago) did a remix of the Ella Fitzgerald version. So here it is! Enjoy!

Colour, not color

Ahhh I haven't posted for the last two days!! :( I was hiking and packing and going to a drive-in, so I was busy. But that's no excuse.

Here's a song that I really want to be released so I can start adding it to playlists... it's by The Colourists, and it's called Little Games, and I love it. It's got a really happy vibe to it, and the classic indie one-girl-one-boy singing arrangement that (for me, at least) never gets old!

I'll try to keep my posts more frequent...

A good remix

I ranted yesterday about remixes... actually, it was, like, two minutes ago. I just changed the post date so it shows that it was posted yesterday (since I forgot to post yesterday). I know, I just ruined the magic. Santa's not real either.

Anyway, I ranted a couple minutes ago about how remixes have to be improvements or changes unique to the original song. I thought I'd give an example, so it looks less like I'm just pulling this junk out of thin air. so here's a remix by probably one of my favorite remixers, TheFatRat. He's pretty amazing, and his remixes are very well-tailored to the original song, while still being drastically different. A remix can really breathe new life into a song, and TheFatRat does a great job at it!

So here's a great remix he did of The Knocks' Brightside. Enjoy!

Your remix is bad, and you should feel bad

Okay so I'm known to like a remix or two, but artists have to draw the line somewhere. I mean, if an artist wants to remix a song, they should ask themselves, "am I really going to make something unique to this specific song, or am I just going to make a song and overlay some indie song's vocals?" If it's the latter, they should just take a day off or something, because it's not worth it. That's not what remixing is for.

What brought this mini-rant on, you might ask? Well, I just saw that a pretty reputable electronic dance music publicity YouTube channel just posted a remix of Kodaline's Love Like This. It's a great song which I happen to love, and I probably did have some bias toward the original, but there was really nothing unique added to the song by the remixer (Fix8, if anybody's interested), which is really a shame.

So, just because I'm a little miffed, here's Love Like This by Kodaline. The original. The better one.

Feels like an indie remix day to me

RAC fur dayz ;)

But seriously, this guy puts out so many remixes it's insane. "Fur dayz" is definitely an exaggeration, but if you were to play all his remixes on Soundcloud back-to-back, it would take over ten hours. That's pretty insane.

And even though I don't like all of his remixes, they're all very well-made and it's less of a quality thing for me and more of a I-don't-always-like-the-style thing. But, sometimes... it's perfect. So here's a recent remix he did of Joywave's Tongues featuring Kopps. Also, the singer's voice totally reminds me of Sam Halliday, lead vocalist from Two Door Cinema Club. Anyway, enjoy!

Poppy drummy

It's a poppy day today!

Today's track is Close Enough by Ghost Beach, featuring Noosa. It's a kind of psychadelic, drum-heavy, and fast-paced, but it's absolutely wonderful and very uplifting. It's also got some great vocal slicing, and I'm such a sucker for sliced vocals :) So anyway... here it is!

Oh, and happy Monday! First day of summer break!

Justicey vibes

Hey, all! Today's song is a pretty great glitchy electro track. The style reminds me a lot of Justice, from the drop to high-flying disco-esque synth on the quarter note the rest of the time, but I felt like it was unique (and catchy) enough to warrant a post.

So without further adieu, here's Origins by Milkman! Enjoy~

The badassifier

Okay, so I literally JUST found this song, and I really wanted to share it, so it's technically Saturday, right?

And yeah, I'm pretty sure that if you play this song in the background of any ordinary, mundane activity, it will automatically become at least two units more badass. Seriously, man.

So here's the Robotaki remix of Deadlock by TJH87 (apparently short for Timo Juuti & Hector 87). If you're interested, Robotaki also did a great (although very different) remix of 1901 by Phoenix.

Slappa da bass!

Happy Friday, everybody! Since it's the end of the week, I thought I'd post an awesome, dance-able tune for the weekend! It's not super recend (like four months old) but I still love it. It's super funky, and has some great slap bass. After all, who doesn't like The Knocks?

This is the RUNVS remix of Dancing With The DJ by The Knocks. I don't know who this RUNVS is, but I hope they make more music!

Thursday, June 13, 2013

I don't even know what.

I've never really been able to describe Phonat's music... but I love it. He just released an EP called Identity Theft, which is really the first thing he's released in over a year... but either way! His music is super funky and kind of glitchy and just really strange in general.

When I try to think of similar artists, Lemâitre comes to mind, but it's not really a valid comparison... maybe Bobby Tank? I don't know. I like it. Here's Identity Theft, my favorite song off Phonat's new EP.

Flashback: Stevie Wonder

Happy Hump Day, all! I am currently procrastinating studying for a public speaking final by posting music! Yay, college.

Today's going to be the first of probably many a....

Flashback Alert!

So yeah, when I run out of super current music to play (or I want to space out more current songs so I don't end up doing Flashback Alerts in groups) I'll do a Flashback Alert and play a song that's a couple of years old (but is still super awesome).

This song is technically a rework/edit of an even older song, so it actually is a flashback, which is cool! Today's song is U-Tern's edit of Stevie Wonder's Do I Do. The edit is about two years old, but the original song was released in 1982. It's got a great disco vibe, and it really makes me want to dance... if only I could dance. #whiteboyproblems

Ukulele isn't always corny.

So Vance Joy's entire discography (which is currently a measly five songs) has been my on-repeat sing-along-at-the-top-of-your-lungs driving playlist for the last 2-3 weeks... I have no regrets.

But yeah, for those who don't know, Vance Joy is this super amazing indie ukulele/acoustic guitar artist who writes poignant lyrics and has an amazing and unique voice. Also, after a couple weeks of near-constant play, I'm not even tired of his songs (yet). So that's pretty cool.

Here's his most popular (and most upbeat) song, Riptide, but I recommend that everybody listen to his other songs. They're equally amazing, even if they aren't as upbeat or radio-friendly. One of them features a cello -- I won't tell you which, so that way it's a surprise.

Monday, June 10, 2013

Dancey Dancey

I'm done with Honors Chemistry! Weird... I'm going to miss that class.

Either way, today's song is more dancey, but basically just as chill as yesterday's song -- I guess I'm in a low-key music mood this week. But yes, this is the Monsieur Adi remix of Julian by Say Lou Lou. I feel like this would be the perfect night road-trip song... makes me want to go on an adventure!

Urinal: Decider of Character

...yep, it's come to this.

I've recently come to the conclusion that a public bathroom is where one's true colors show (and usually not in a good way). I realized this when I was washing my hands one nondescript day, and I witnessed a professor (or some adult, most likely employed at the college) choose to not flush his urinal. So yeah, it's about to get a little ranty up in here.

Have you ever heard that phrase, "who you are is what you do when nobody's looking?" Well, I think that this applies greatly to college life, especially in respect to public (or dorm) bathrooms. I can honestly not understand what goes through a person's head when he or she decides to not flush the toilet/urinal. I mean, nobody would be thick enough to think, "well, I'll just leave my excrement sitting here in the toilet... I'm sure nobody will even notice!" I'm guessing it's more along the lines of, "I'm much more important than anybody else that uses public bathrooms ever, so I'll delegate the disposal of my defecation to an unsuspecting stranger, because my time is too valuable to spend a half of a second being considerate."

If either of those trains of thought represent what goes through your mind when you're in a public restroom (whether you're this guy or this guy), my advice remains the same:

Much love,

Jacob

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to my sideblog, Jacob's Infinite Playlist! Here, I'll be posting songs I like, since I have the ever-present desire to force my music upon other people.

I wanted to call it Jacob's Weekly Jam or something along those lines, but I feel like I may update more than once a week, so I left it more open ended. Don't want to offend anybody with misleading titles!

Anyway, I'll just be posting random songs that I like on here, so if you don't like music, stay on the home page... or just die in a pit, because if you don't like music, what's the point of living?

Okay, so today's song is the Skrux and Complexion remix of Cosmos by Clark Kent & Yinyues... what a mouthful! But yeah, it's very chill and kind of galactic. I like it.

Hair is the bane of my existence...

...as in, it's really hard to get hair right in vector art.

Oh, and I'll never teach you how to make teeth, Christine, because what then would be my livelihood? A magician should never reveal the secret to his (or her) tricks illusions!

Also, I tried my best to correct your self-portrait:
